Case Study: Supporting the Future of Theatre – Liverpool BID Company & Royal Court Youth Theatre
At Liverpool BID Company, we know that the city’s future lies in the creativity and energy of its young people. That’s why we’re proud to support the Royal Court Youth Theatre through our Arts & Culture Fund, helping to ensure the next generation has the chance to discover their voices, their talents, and their place on stage.
The Royal Court Youth Theatre has long been a safe and inspiring space where young people from across Liverpool can come together to learn new skills, build confidence, and create powerful theatre. With our funding, the Youth Theatre has been able to expand its opportunities and open doors for more young people to take part, regardless of their background or experience.
Thanks to support from Liverpool BID Company, the Youth Theatre has been able to:
- Increase its capacity and welcome larger groups of young people.
- Offer free access to over 30 new members within the past 10 months.
- Strengthen support staffing to ensure each young person has the guidance they need.
- Provide paid opportunities for young peer mentors, helping them volunteer, grow in confidence, and develop their leadership skills.
This support goes beyond the stage. For many of the young people involved, the Youth Theatre is where friendships are formed, confidence is built, and future pathways into creative industries begin. Whether it’s acting, directing, stage design or simply developing teamwork and communication skills, the Royal Court Youth Theatre gives its members experiences that will stay with them for life.
Miriam Mussa, Head of Theatre Engagement, said:
“Massive thank you to Liverpool BID for supporting Liverpool’s Royal Court Youth Theatre. Funding is crucial to help us maintain free access for young people across the city region. Youth theatre is important to all our members – to meet new friends- a place to share and develop their creativity and have the best time!!”
By supporting projects like this through the Arts & Culture Fund, Liverpool BID Company is investing in the city’s cultural heartbeat. Supporting young people in the arts means nurturing the next generation of performers, creators and audiences – making sure Liverpool’s cultural story continues to thrive.
We’re proud to stand alongside the Royal Court Youth Theatre and to play our part in ensuring that young people have every opportunity to step into the spotlight.
