Celebrating Bold Street – Albert’s Schloss
Liverpool BID Company has launched a “Celebrating Bold Street” campaign to shine a spotlight on the amazing businesses and people of Bold Street, following the unfortunate cancellation of the “Celebrating Bold Street” event last month. We’ll be taking a closer look behind the unique shops, restaurants, and individuals that make Bold Street such a vibrant part of the city. Think of it as a behind-the-scenes look at the heart and soul of one of Liverpool’s most loved streets – packed with stories, smiles, and a whole lot of community spirit!
We asked Ollie from Albert’s Schloss a few questions on his experience working on Bold Street!
Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started at Albert’s Schloss!
Hiya, my name is Ollie – welcome to Albert’s Schloss. I am an ‘OG’ that’s what we call them around here! I’ve been here since the very beginning when we opened in December, one year and nine months ago, and we have not stopped since.
What do you love about Bold Street?
My favourite thing about Bold Street would have to be the independent side of it. As soon as you walk down every building has got it’s unique flavour and tastes from around the world, there’s a lot of Turkish, bar & grills, there’s vegan places and obvisouly like us – we’re Bavarian! In general every place is out there to help the community, becasue they all provide good jobs and honest service and it’s just a great place to be!
What other businesses would you encourage people to visit?
Other than Albert’s Schloss, I would definitley say Maray. They do a lot of vegan food and cater to gluten intolerances. Other than that, The Italian Club, there’s a few of them around. On Bold Street alone they have the Italian Fish place and their original Italian Club – best italian food I’ve ever had!
What are your top Albert’s Schloss menu picks?
On the menu, it would have to be the Peach & Rhubarb Daquiri or the Rhubarb Custard Sour. If I’m feeling a little bit strong, I’d definitley go for a Negroni, my all time favourite cocktail.
Food – I love Krokettes, I’ll always be a Krokette man. But definitley the Schweinshaxe, it’s definitley a piece – just to look at, nevermind eat!
If Bold Street was a person – how would you describe it’s personality?
Unique, edgy, will always suprise you. Whether it be with a joke, a story or a dream they had!
