Cultural Heritage, People and Place (CHerPP) : Understanding Value via a regional case study is a research project involving the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, working together with National Museums Liverpool (NML). It is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the UK Government Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). We are part of a portfolio of six national funded projects. More details about the project, the other projects funded, and the wider Culture and Heritage Capital Framework, can be found here
The benefits and values of a museum or cultural site are usually measured and understood through the views of the people who directly visit or engage with it. As such, many voices and opinions are left out and not accounted for in decision making processes, not least those of local and regional businesses. CHerPP is investigating how National Museums Liverpool’s collections and the current Waterfront Transformation Project, which includes an expansion of the International Slavery Museum, Maritime Museum, and associated outdoor spaces, might hold different benefits and values to people in Liverpool and the City Region, even if they don’t visit or directly engage with them – these are the often difficult to define and measure “non-use values”. To help us to do this and to make sure that we include different perspectives from across communities in the city and region, we are running a series of events.
This first Business Breakfast will directly shape and inform the next stages of our project, including our next events, the development of a regional survey, and a social cost benefit analysis development.
Please come along to meet us, to shape and take part in our research, to hear from National Museums Liverpool about the Transformation Project, and to connect with other local businesses. We are interested in hearing about the thoughts and activities of all local businesses who do not directly engage with the Waterfront Transformation Project /National Museums Liverpool sites.
Tea, coffee and pastries will be provided.
Places are limited. To register your attendance please visit: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cultural-heritage-people-and-place-business-breakfast-tickets-910592034287
