Liverpool is being encouraged to explore the city this summer with a new campaign from Liverpool BID Company launching this July. Sundays in Town will showcase the different activities and offers available in the city centre’s cultural, retail and hospitality hubs.

With restrictions easing in England, but with many businesses and city leaders still urging caution, the campaign is designed to sell the city to Scousers and UK visitors. Domestic tourism is expected to dramatically increase in Summer 2021, up 51% compared with 2020. In Liverpool city centre, footfall levels are now roughly where they were in 2019.

Sundays in Town encourages visits to the city when it is traditionally quieter, and offers the options of a day out or activity that many might not have experienced before, but can do so safely.

Bill Addy, CEO of Liverpool BID Company says:

“This summer, our message is all about encouraging people to explore their own city. We know that everyone is going to want to go at a different speed, and as a city centre we want to showcase the vast amount of choice and activities on offer.

“There are plenty of ways to enjoy our city’s culture, from a gig to a visit to an exhibition, a trip to the waterfront or even a walk to enjoy your favourite Liverpool buildings. Retail offers range from small independents to international brands. Our vibrant hospitality industry offers everything from a quiet lunch to a long and leisurely afternoon out, and everything in between.

“It is all about choice this summer. The choice to explore and the choice to move at our own pace.”
