In celebration of World Bath Bomb Day on Sunday 27th April, Lush Liverpool senior manager Sandra Byrne, shares her bathing secrets and favourite retail moments from the largest Lush store in the world.

Lush is the inventor of the bath bomb itself, and after opening the first Liverpool shop in 2004, Sandra now manages the largest Lush store in the world after the store’s relocation to Church Street in 2019. Since opening its doors, Lush has been one of the city’s most iconic locations for the best retail experiences, from exclusive Christmas Grottos to Eurovision star performances.

With 30 brand new bath bombs for 30 years of Lush ready to hit the shelves this World Bath Bomb Day, the city’s current best-seller is Intergalactic, with over 5,600 sold in-store last year. Bath bombs certainly hold a place in the hearts of scousers, as Sandra recalls one of her most memorable requests: “One time, we had a gentleman come in and ask us if we could hide his fiancee-to-be’s engagement ring in a bath bomb! I hope it didn’t go down the drain!”

This World Bath Bomb Day, Lush encourages customers to embrace the art of the bathing in everyday life, and Sandra shares her favourite bathing routine products:

“A product with a lot of nostalgia for me has to be Creamy Candy bubble bar. It’s a mainstayer in my bath routine and I like to pair it up with Rock Star Rabbit soap which is an Easter exclusive, and a nice face mask such as Beauty Sleep.”

With an amazing 21 years of being part of the Liverpool city centre, Sandra insists the store’s success is because of their wonderful customers and the Liverpool community.

“We will always hold space within our shop for our community, especially under represented parts such as the LGBTQ+ community. Even when I didn’t have the space within the shop for these communities, I made sure I got to them by getting out of the shop – whether that be going to women’s refugees and the Blind School in Liverpool, giving sensory experiences such as hand and arm massages. “I’ve always thought of our ability and opportunity to engage with our community and educate and speak to them an honour, never a task,” said Sandra.

Let the birthday fizz flow this World Bath Bomb Day as Lush celebrates its 30th birthday with 30 brand new bath bombs, featuring reworked returning favourites and viral best-selling scents such as Sticky Dates and Super Milk. The collection will be launching on the Lush App on Tuesday 22nd April, and will be available globally in-store and online on Thursday 24th April.

Soak up the birthday celebrations in sudsy style as Lush embraces the art of bathing in everyday life this World Bath Bomb Day on 27th April, paying homage to the day Lush were first awarded the trademark for bath bombs after Co-Founder, Mo Constantine, invented the first of its kind in her shed in 1989.
