Lord Mayor’s Dragon Boat Race

Dragon Boat Racing is the fastest growing water activity in Britain today – as well as the most fun! Up to 18 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!
The Lord Mayor’s Dragon Boat Race takes place on Sunday 11th May 2025 on the River Mersey at Liverpool Watersports Centre and more than 20 teams are expected to compete over the 200m race course, watched by crowds of spectators.
All money raised from the event will support the work of the AIMS team at Local Solutions. The AIMS Skills Programme courses support young people aged 16-24 that are temporary residents in the charity’s supported accommodation services. Courses are also provided to Leaving Care organisations, Youth Offending Services, Probation teams, Supported Housing providers and schools. Our aim is to ensure the support that we provide is unique to the individual and tailored to their needs, helping them to achieve personal goals, keeping them safe and maintaining tenancies. Your fundraising will help to transform the life of a young homeless person.
