New campaign to sell Liverpool’s Commercial District to young execs
Business and young professionals are targeted to move to the city
A new campaign launches today to encourage both investors and young professionals to move to Liverpool’s Commercial Business District. Funded by Liverpool Business Improvement District, the campaign showcases the economic and lifestyle benefits of moving to the historic heart of the city’s commercial neighbourhood.
A new website showcases the investment opportunities in Liverpool’s Commercial Business District, part of the fastest growing city economy in the UK. Showcasing schemes like Royal Liver Building, Martin’s Bank Building and Avenue HQ, the new site shares the benefits of moving business to the area. There is 830k sq ft of Grade A office space across the Central Business District. Office space in Liverpool is £120 per sq ft, compared with £218 in Manchester and £806 in London making it more cost-effective for businesses. It also includes the Pall Mall Gardens project – supported by Liverpool City Council – which is moving forward having reached completion of the refreshed RIBA Stage 3 design and will soon be commencing the final RIBA Stage 4 process.
The site also shares stories from the business community within the Commercial Business District with firms including Sony and ShedKM providing testimonials about the range of industry in the area.
The site coincides with a new advertising campaign in London and Manchester, encouraging young professionals to explore moving to the city. Liverpool has a graduate retention rate of 76% and the city is in the top ten for those looking to move from the South. Attracted by affordable housing and living costs, the city has seen a rise in interest fuelled by a wider city digital presence and a focus on having a larger disposable income.
The creative uses powerful imagery to illustrate the livability of Liverpool. Showcasing the city’s lifestyle, cultural offer and nearby beaches, the campaign promotes the city as a place for young executives.
Bill Addy is CEO of Liverpool Business Improvement District
“This week at MIPIM has been about selling Liverpool’s opportunities to investors, and the Commercial District is the fuel of our economy. It’s vital that this is the location where we can showcase the office space that combines the rich heritage and architecture of the city, alongside modern and flexible workspaces. Alongside that built infrastructure, we know that Liverpool has a powerful pull to young people. The city is buzzing and its culture and hospitality is a major draw. Our message to young people who want to build a life in a city that is beautiful, interconnected and brimming with opportunity is “look to Liverpool”.
The news comes as Steve Rotheram, the mayor of Liverpool City Region, announced at MIPIM 2026 a new £2bn investment fund to bring new and existing public funding into one pot, accelerating regeneration and attracting billions in institutional investment.
