Weddings can now be legalised in the historic Cotton Exchange building, which for decades was Liverpool’s registry office

Located in a historic Grade II listed Cotton Exchange building on Old Hall Street, ONE FINE DAY is the beating heart of Liverpool’s commercial district.

And as the wedding season in the city properly begins, the team are very proud to announce they now have a wedding license granted and be able to legalise marriages in the building.

ONE FINE DAY’s license to grant weddings is for the main ground floor space, the mezzanine and Little Leaf means there’s no need to go to a registry office anymore. The legal ceremony and celebrations can take place under the same roof, utilising some areas or the entirety of ONE FINE DAY and Little Leaf for newlyweds to usher in their lives together in the beautiful setting.

Whilst ONE FINE DAY already has a busy calendar of weddings booked for this year and into 2027, the news means that the venue is going to be busier than ever. Housed in the beautiful former cotton exchange, it is steeped in history; for decades the building was home to Liverpool’s registrar’s office and coroner’s courts, all the way up until January 2012.

Around 100,000 people a year used to visit the offices to register births, deaths and marriages before the facility was moved to St George’s Hall. It’s incredible to think how many marriages were officiated there and now this is coming full circle, where ONE FINE DAY began a new chapter of officiating weddings. The historic Cotton Exchange has been carefully restored over the last decade, with ONE FINE DAY’s main events space showcasing some of the original pillars which were crafted from whole pieces of marble, rather than assembled in segments, which reflects the level of grandeur and detail still retained. There’s also a private entrance leading in from the charming cobbled street outside for couples to make their grand entrance.

ONE FINE DAY is the ideal location to host not only intimate weddings, but it also is ideal for corporate events and private parties. Little LEAF offers brunch, lunch and Sunday roasts and of course lots of loose-leaf teas too. The emphasis is around socialising, sharing and having fun, from intimate catch ups to bigger gatherings.
