Inviting Artists Expressions of Interest

Liverpool BID Company, on behalf of The Beatles Legacy Group and SP Energy Network, is seeking to commission an artist to design, fabricate and install a commissioned artwork that interprets Liverpool’s deep-rooted musical and cultural histories and the importance of the Cavern Quarter and the cultural impact it had on music locally and internationally. The commission will be located on a newly installed wall on Mathew Street at the rear of the Harrington Street Substation.

We invite artists from a wide range of disciplines. We are open to suggestions and welcome new and inspiring ideas.

We are looking to commission an artist with a track record of producing high quality artwork & meeting deadlines.

They will have demonstrable experience of:

  • Successfully devising public artworks considered by clients as fit for purpose, cost effective and free of maintenance complications
  • Liaising with other agents e.g. planning officers, environmental services to ensure the safe and successful installation of work

There is an all-inclusive budget of up to £25,000 (ex VAT) to design, produce, and install the artwork.

In order for an application to be considered, the following information must be provided:

  • Full details of the individual including address and contact details
  • Up to date CV linked to the artist specification above
  • Details and images of previous work (up to 10 images)
  • A written statement outlining your approach to the commission
  • Proof of public liability insurance
  • Risk Assessment

The artist will be provided with a contract for the commission.

Shortlisted artists will be notified and invited to attend a site meeting and briefing prior to the design stage commencing, all relevant supporting documents will be provided on the day. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide further feedback to those who do not make the shortlist.
