Rehearsals underway for Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World and Robin Hood, as Everyman & Playhouse prepare for some festive fun!
Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse theatres are gearing up to present two super shows for audiences to enjoy this festive season, as rehearsals are underway for Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World and the Everyman Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto Robin Hood.
After two years away, Liverpool’s famous Rock ‘n’ Roll panto is ready for its triumphant return to the Everyman. The production of Robin Hood will finally make its way to the Everyman stage this Christmas, as regular writers Sarah A Nixon and Mark Chatterton put their own marvellously mischievous spin on the classic tale of heroism, social justice… and tights.
Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World is currently in rehearsals at MAST Theatre Southampton, as the production prepares to make its world premiere in November, before heading to the Playhouse in December. From the producers of the hit musical SIX, Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World is a kick-asspirational pop musical celebrating the lives of some incredibly great women, including Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Marie Curie, Emmeline Pankhurst and more.
An all-female team working on the production includes song writer Miranda Cooper, who has topped the charts with Girls Aloud and Sugar Babes, and celebrated playwright Chris Bush. The Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World script is adapted from suffragette descendent Kate Pankhurst’s award-winning picture book of the same name.
Mark Da Vanzo, chief executive at Liverpool and Merseyside Theatres Trust, said:
“We are looking forward to sharing two equally spectacular shows across both our stages this Christmas. Fantastically Great Woman Who Changed the World at the Playhouse is a production we are really excited to share with our audiences and I know this all-female cast and creative team will put on a show for Liverpool over the festive period.
“At the Everyman, two years without our famous Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto is two years too long in our book! Be prepared for festive hijinks, silliness and maybe just a sprinkling of water, as our famous panto returns to the stage. Welcome back to Christmas at the Everyman and Playhouse, Liverpool!”
