The Kirsty Doyle Club brings the KD Craft Grotto to Metquarter Liverpool in support of local charity
Just in time for Christmas, renowned Liverpool fashion designer and store owner Kirsty Doyle has announced an exciting development for The Kirsty Doyle Club with the launch of the KD Craft Grotto, taking place in Metquarter over Saturday 7 – Sunday 8 December.
The initiative will bring together the work of young creative talent from across the UK to Liverpool, with a pop-up shop based in Metquarter. Creative items designed by students as far afield as Essex and Kent, as well as local talent from primary and secondary school students based in Liverpool will be available to purchase over the weekend.
Adding to the significance of the event, 100% of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to Liverpool-based charity The Hope Foundation who have a commitment to providing housing support and advice to anyone in need. The charity partnership underlines the young participants’ commitment to helping others whilst showcasing the creativity and collaboration of the next generation of designers.
The initiative will provide participants with a unique opportunity to see their work displayed and sold within a public space, while getting to work alongside their peers in a professional environment in order to gain first hand industry knowledge.
The young designers from local schools and colleges groups will also be given the opportunity to attend KD Club retail experience workshops throughout the week in Metquarter to gain further industry insight into the world of retail such as merchandising and stock taking ahead of the sale of their work this weekend.
Kirsty Doyle, designer and creator of KD Club says:
“This is more than just a showcase of talent. We wanted to create an inspiring experience for young people—one that teaches them the value of their creativity and the power of giving back to the community.”
She continued “The KD Craft Grotto exemplifies the spirit of community, innovation, and generosity. By working together on this initiative, students have not only honed their artistic skills but also contributed to a cause that directly impacts the lives of those in need.”
Kayley, one of the young creatives taking part in the project said:
“Seeing my work for sale in such a big space is amazing, knowing it’s helping people in our city makes it even more special.”
Jennina O’Neill, Centre Manager at Metquarter said:
“It is amazing to have such a great initiative taking place in Metquarter and the project allows us to support our partner charity The Hope Foundation even further. The KD Craft Grotto gives young creatives the chance to experience the retail industry, something we champion at Metquarter, hosting many unique and independent businesses within the centre. We can’t wait to welcome the public this weekend and offer them the opportunity to purchase unique gifts while also being able to donate to a local charity within the city.”
The KD Craft Grotto will be open at Metquarter Liverpool from Saturday 7th to Sunday 8th December. Visitors are welcome to come and support the next generation of designers while making a difference in the lives of others.
