DESCRIPTION:The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest continuous military campaign of the Second World War and was pivotal to the overall success of the allied forces. Liverpool is proud to be the focus of this year’s commemorations and will host a series of events as a fitting tribute to the courage and fortitude of every man and woman involved. \nThis May (26th – 28th)\, Culture Liverpool will be commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic with a 1940s Military Themed Village at Liverpool’s Pier Head. \nWith lots of fun things to do with the family\, get ready to experience activities and equipment from the Royal Navy\, Army\, and RAF including a Typhoon simulator\, VR speedboat simulator\, climbing walls\, bungee runs\, a Spitfire replica\, tanks\, helicopters and vintage military vehicles. \nAnd there’s more. Expect a special flypast over the Mersey by historic aircrafts Navy Wings Swordfish\, Poseidon and the Battle of Britain Memorial flight\, cadet bands\, drill and PT displays\, 1940s music\, dance and other pop-up performances throughout the weekend. \nGot sea legs\, then the Merchant Navy and Royal Navy ships will be open to visitors too. \nThe best bit.
