Since launching Bored of Dating Apps in LEAF Bold Street in February 2022, Jess-Hope Evans has created a wonderful community of new friendships, relationships and daters in Liverpool.

Over three years, loneliness in a post-lockdown life has been curbed, besties have blossomed and people have met the love of their life at BODA. Many relationships have started through Jess’ passion to unite people, rejecting the tired culture of dating apps and to create meaningful connections.

Having proudly started in Liverpool, events now take place across the UK and in 2024 BODA debuted in New York City, too. Jess continues to grow her in real life dating night which has made a profoundly positive effect on so many people, whilst in Liverpool where the story started events continue to sell out.

And now with Valentine’s Day incoming, Jess and the team at LEAF are teaming up. They have revealed a rather lovely competition to win free wedding hire, open to anyone to apply for if they are a couple who met at a BODA social at LEAF Bold Street and are now engaged.

If any couple out there have got engaged after meeting at a LEAF x BODA social, Jess would love to read a message (no more than 150 words) describing the first time they met at BODA and to be entered into the competition.

Jess says: “This competition feels very special to us, as since Valentine’s February 2022, LEAF has helped us birth so many meaningful connections. It has been the capital space in Liverpool for romance for the past three years. A safe, offline and fun environment which champions the ‘meet-cute’, where people have found love in all of its mighty forms. Fighting loneliness in cities was important to us after lockdown, and the encouragement of dating app culture left a lot of single people feeling more disconnected than ever before. Thanks to LEAF, there has been the beginnings of many happy memories shared, including new friends going on holidays together, new communities formed (including an unofficial BODA Brunch Club – an ever-growing and changing group of singles who meet for brunch each week to try a new restaurant) besties moving in with each other, and countless people who have said their first hello to the love of their life here. We’re so excited LEAF are doing this with us to celebrate a full circle moment together, right from when strangers first locked eyes with one another across the bar to their first dance.”
