Free Female Self-Defense Classes at Cotton Exchange

19 March @ 17:00 - 19:00

COURSE 1 AT COTTON EXCHANGE – Free Female Self-Defence Classes with Merseyside Police

Merseyside Police, Liverpool BID Company and Liverpool City Council are committed to reducing violence against women and girls. Through funding obtained from the City Safe Board we are pleased to offer female self-defence classes to women and girls who live, work or socialise within the City Centre.

Liverpool City Centre has recently been awarded the Purple Flag for the 14th consecutive year for demonstrating a safe and well-managed night-time economy, and this project is just one of many initiatives taking place across the City Centre that aim to keep women and girls safe.

The course includes theory and practical elements such as:

  • Self Defence and the Law (Common Law of Self Defence)
  • Communication Skills (Betari’s Box, Components of Communication, De-escalation Skills)
  • Body language (Warning and Danger Signs)
  • Raising Awareness (Coopers Colour Codes)
  •  Practical defences, striking points, blocking and weapon awareness.
  • These are practical sessions so attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing or active wear

The course is split across 3 sessions each lasting 2 hours per week over 3 consecutive weeks (you must attend all three sessions to receive the certification).

Course 1 Dates:

  1. Tuesday 19th March, 5pm – 7pm
  2. 26th March, 5pm – 7pm
  3. 2nd April – 5pm – 7pm
