Drop by FACT on Sunday 13 August to go back in time to 2007 and take a stroll down Bold Street. Watch two short films that trace Liverpool’s social and economic history, told by the street’s traders, residents and shoppers.

The Bolder They Walk (directed by Kim Ryan) follows Chris Bernard and Alex Cox as they discuss art, culture, and society whilst visiting iconic shops of the past and present including Hairy Records, Mattas and the old fruit and veg market on Ropewalks Square.

Let On (directed by Olivia Greenberg) documents the spaces in and around Bold Street as Peter Wylie and Jeff Young share their stories of growing up in Liverpool and how the city has changed over time. Both films capture the essence of Bold Street in 2007, just months away from the city’s year as European Capital of Culture.

The short films will be shown back-to-back in the foyer of FACT between 11:00 – 18:00. 

Later this year, FACT will celebrate it’s 20th birthday with a bumper weekend of events on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 October.

The Bolder They Walk was commissioned by FACT and tenantspin (a community media project) as part of The Bold Street Project, an exhibition that took place at FACT from June – August 2007.
