It was announced last month that overnight surfacing works would commence on the southbound carriageway of The Strand beginning the week of Monday 26 April.

Whilst week one went according to plan, the GRAHAM team have been hampered by the inclement weather conditions on Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 May.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast does not show signs of improving with conditions including high winds, rain and frost continuing through this week and into next. Such weather conditions can have safety implications for the workforce and severely compromise the integrity of the finished surface course which can lead to future maintenance problems and also cause further delays.

Therefore, GRAHAM’s have consulted with Liverpool City Council and have made the very difficult decision to postpone the remaining works which will recommence on Monday 17 May until Friday 11 June (weather dependent).

Working safely during Covid-19

The GRAHAM site is rigorously adhering to social distancing regulations, and external daily briefings are being conducted to highlight and reinforce, safe working procedures for the welfare of staff and members of the public.
